About Eli Moshe Zimbalist
He was an incredible young man with hands of gold, and a heart of gold.

He was an inspiration and helper to dozens of people.
(From Aryeh Deverett)
I met Eli Mo when he was 11 years old. He was my neighbor when we made Aliyah to Bet Shemesh. Eli Mo was a student in my first woodworking chug in Israel. Immediately I saw how talented and motivated he was. He would finish projects in half the time of the other students and then help the others to finish their projects.

At age 13, I encouraged his grandparents to buy him a set of power tools for his Bar Mitzvah, which they did. And then Eli Mo blossomed.
He was a sponge for knowledge. I taught him to build decks, pergolas, sheds, swings, tables; everything I knew. I taught him how to fix all kinds of things in his home - pipes, drains, outlets, cupboards; And by about age 15, he became the neighborhood handyman. Everyone called him for help in their homes. He also maintained the shul.
By age 18 he had built dozens of decks, pergolas and furniture. By the end of high school he had a thriving business. His aspiration was to become a big builder in Israel.

He had incredible derech eretz (manners) and exemplary middot (good character traits). He helped everyone, sometimes for a fair fee, and often for free. He was bright, friendly and extremely motivated.

When he started hesder Yeshivah, his building business had to go “on hold”. Ironically when he was drafted into the IDF, he was given a role in combat engineering – to destroy buildings and tunnels, yet he was as talented in that role as he was in building things.
Tragically in June 2024, Eli Mo and 7 of his comrades were killed in Gaza.

It was “my” dream for Eli Mo to build a school of woodworking. I wanted to help him to teach thousands of students the skills that I had taught him, and that he had become so expert in (even better than me!) And now we will continue his legacy.

I have met many wonderful young men in my lifetime. But none were like Eli Mo. He was a unique, one of a kind, incredible, talented person. In his merit, we hope to be able to teach hundreds of students the skills, attitude and motivation that he had.

this is a great class. I never thought I could build. It's awesome to make things
I learned how to hang things on my walls. I went home and hung a shelf for the first time.
Aryeh is a good teacher. He is patient and explains things well. And I love that we get to actually practice the skills we learn
My son is really enjoying this course.
It's really good to know how to fix the leak under my sink and change my water filter. I always thought I had to call a plumber, but now I can do it myself
Our daughter made a great little stool from wood. It gave he a lot of confidence.
Thanks for making the school in honor of Eli Moshe. He really helped us in our home. We all miss him dearly
Aryeh showed us how to change the mechanisms in our toilet. I decided to try it. I can't believe I can do that. I think I just saved a few hundred shekels not having to call a plumber.
